    re: Pottercast
Please, please, please bring back the Potter Pundits! This needs to be a regular feature. The show is too light and airy without it. You used to serve meat and potatoes and we now only get dessert.

  11. Margie L. Says:

I’m probabaly one of your older listeners (42 to be exact) but here is a little of what I would like to hear in a Harry Potter podcast. Bruce from above is right, I want more meat! The Potter Pundits were great. I love listening to GalleryCast, from some of the people that run the Leaky Galleries. Every episode they do a Guru Chat about something from the series such as Death Eaters, other wizarding schools, really anything from the series. I really want more discussion about the books. I love the movies & enjoy hearing about conferences & the park, but it’s the books that are my main focus. There is so much from the series that you can go back and discuss, like they do in Guru Chat. What about going back & discussing the books from the very beginning ala chapter by chapter? Now that the series is over, it is fascinating to go back and re-read these books and discover all the subtle clues Jo put in there and really see how well she planned these books out from the very beginning. As for the length of the podcast, I don’t mind them being longer as long as the content is worthwhile. I just want more than discussion about news stories but no real discussion about anything from the books at all. Thanks for letting me give my 2 cents!

  12. TarsieS Says:

So, just a thought… Have you ever thought of uploading LeakyTV on iTunes as a video podcast?

  13. Maureen Says:

I thought you were doing video casts that were able to be downloaded to iTunes? Where can I see them? I don’t have a webcam yet but I would like to “watch” the episodes when i can.

  14. Paula Says:

Great new site!! I love Pottercast!
    You guys make my day!!

  15. Paula Says:

Just to let Margie L know….I am 53 and I love all things Potter….my father-in-law is 78 is as big a fan as I am….age does not matter!!!

  16. DorisCrockford Says:

    Love the new site.

I went back and listened to the very first Pottercast and respectfully ๐Ÿ™‚ request you bring back the fan interview and mod discussion segment. (Especially since Asphodel was so spot on with her predictions!) I don’t get to visit the boards very often (no time) so would enjoy hearing highlights of what everyone’s talking about.

Melissa’s a great interviewer; maybe she could interview some of her author friends on what they (as fellow authors) think of or concentrate on when the read HP?

Thanks for all the hard work by the web goblins. It’s much appreciated!

  17. Randy Says:

when your talking about the ipod covers and you say to do it with a responsible adult it reminded me of the old harry and the potters psa’s where they said hagrid was not a responsible adult lol

  18. DeLani Says:

Please put the transcripts back up! Otherwise, I completely love the site. Also: the old info. Somehow, I got to “I Think We’re All Dead Now” by harry’sginny (Julie, from “Kung-Fu Snape”) and I want to hear it again.

  19. Tucker Says:

I like the new website as well, I would to hear a wizard wrock segment. It wouldn’t have to be too long, maybe just a song suggestion for the week.

  20. Carolina Says:

FInally!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m so happy Pottercast is back.
    The new website looks great!

I would like to agree with many in here, who posted comments, and say that I don’t want a shorter Pottercast either. I would gladly listen for a two hour program as long as the contents where more related to the books. Potter Pundits segment was great, why can’t we get any more of that?

The News segment, when we get to hear the show, are not much of “news” really, we have already read everything on Leaky Cauldron I don’t think there is much of point on going through all the news unless you guys have a important consideration to make on it.

And I can’t stress enough… books, books and more books! That is why we are here.

We love you guys and appreciate you asking us our two cents on the matter, hope you can make an even better (not shorter) show for us to enjoy!

    Thank you!!!

    Have a wonderful day everybody!

  21. Becky Says:

I’ve been a longtime listener and fan. I second the comments that want more “meat”. The newsy bits are fun, but a seem to have become a little fluffy (I know– you can only do so much this far out from the movie premiere).

I’d love more discussion of the books/storylines, especially from the perspective of now knowing the end. PLEASE oh PLEASE bring back the Potter Pundits. The acting troupe/fan fic drama was great, too. I’d love to see The Founder’s Fountain put up on iTunes as a complete download (so I don’t have to search individual podcasts to get the story).

Thank you so much for all your wonderful work over the years. You guys are GREAT!

  22. Bernadette Says:

I’m so excited that I now have access to all the past episodes! Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!

    The new website looks fantastic.

Though I agree with other comments here about wanting more book discussion and potter pundit segments, I also appreciate what a time consuming enterprise it must be to produce this show.

I think a good balance between the light and the heavy could be found by having some cannon discussion (eg: bit by bit / cannon conundrums / potter pundits) as well as some quiz/trivia (eg: are you smarter than… / guess that book) each episode. I also think we could do with a much shorter news segment and more mailbag.

Thanks for all your hard work and the many, many hours of entertainment you have provided me on my commute to and from work!

  23. Analisa Says:

I think that the site looks great! I’ve always love PotterCast! I have been a listener for about more than a year now and you guys are awesome! Melissa, John, and Frak, you guys rock! I love you! Keep up the great work!

    Analisa <3

  36. filibusterfirework74 Says:

I have listened to your podcast since the summer after deathly hallows. I love listening back to old episodes and the other day I was listening to one episode (of many) when sue and john were fighting over house elves in the pre frak days. I really miss hearing sues voice but I love the three of you as well. I was just wondering how has sue been because we havent really heard from her since she left. Also could you guys maybe do a clab episode of past episodes (like WAY past episodes such as the tour before DH)? It would be fun to see what other people thought was the best of Pottercast. Love you all. And Frak I am so glad you joined the team ๐Ÿ™‚

  37. DirigiblePlum47 Says:

How do you get sorted? I was listening to a Pottercast and some people were on the show, for Are You Smarter Than John Noey. They said they were in Hufflepuff or summat.

So, is that a past thing, or what?

  38. rubyslippers Says:

On episode 233–that was Andrew from Mugglecast, correct? It was cool to hear him on the show. I was wondering if you guys were friendly. I heard on their last podcast that they’re headed to Leaky Con–and they’re are quite excited! Love both your showgrams :0> Can’t wait for Leaky Con!!

  39. KatyPotterBlack^_^ Says:

I Love PotterCast, I just listened to number 213 and I laughed soooo much, I love you all sooooo much you are soooooooooooooooooo funny, I am compleatly Obsessed with Harry Potter. And I live in Surrey ๐Ÿ™‚ I love Leaky Round up and Bit by Bit, and, well, the whole show ๐Ÿ™‚

  40. Shaw Says:

Hey, guys! You asked if you had any new listeners. I’ve listened to Mugglecast off and on for a few years, but I only just started listening to Pottercast. I love it so much, and (no offense to Mugglenet) but I love you guys so much more. I’ve just finished listening to every episode of Pottercast. Also, I’m a hardcore fan and I’ve read all the books seven times in English and right now I’m reading them in Spanish.

  41. julia Says:

  43. Kirsten Says:

I’ve only been listening to this podcast for a few short weeks, but I must have listened to over seventy by now. I love all of you guys, and I can’t wait for LeakyCon! I just had a quick idea for Canon Conclundroms (I believe that’s how it’s spelled), though it’s a bit late: In Half-Blood Prince, Slughorn shows the class a group of potions that they will learn how to make by the end of the year, including Polyjuice potion. I assume this means that this means that the recipe for Polyjuice is in Advanced Potion Making, which is in the supply cupboard. So, long question short, why did Harry, Ron, and Hermione need to trick their way into the Restricted section in Chamber of Secrets when the recipe was in there theentire time?
Sorry for the long comment and confusing question. I just love you, and Melissa is my favorite.

  44. Ashley Says:

i was wondering who was the artisit who drew the pottercast picture, because i swear that Charlie Mcdonnell from youtube (charlieissocoollike) had drawn something very similar to it.

if I were too choose a word to describe harry potter.
    i can only say.

  46. TOBIN Says:

  47. Anju Says:

    Hey I love this podcast,
I was just listening to the audio books again and I thought about the cannon conundrum about the imperius curse. About whether the person it was cast on would be able to do things that normally they wouldn’t be able to do. I believe you guys decided they couldn’t. Anyway, in chapter 15 ( or around there) of the 4th book it says that when “moody” casts the spell on neville he does a bunch of gymnastics/acrobatics he wouldn’t normally be able to do. I am not sure if you guys have already heard this.
Anyway I hope you keep up pottercast even after the end of the movies. I love it!

  48. Seth Says:

Great work…but i have one suggestion for you. Not everyone uses itunes, so it would be kind of you to leave a direct link to the pottercast rss feed– http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/podcasts/pottercast.rss –on the “how to listen” page. That way those of us who don’t do itunes can let our podcatchers and devices of choice handle thing and keep us happily up to date. Thanks.

  49. Carmel Says:

How do I download older episodes to my iTunes to put on my iPod??? all I can do is listen to them when I click on them, the mp3 doesn’t download to my computer! I’m in withdrawal, I’ve heard all the ones in iTunes and I need you guys for running!

  50. kirk Says:

Where are you guys no new podcasts since Aug? Am I missing something somewhere?

  51. Audrey Says:

Wait is this the newest one?????? I’m a frequent listener of mugglecast and I was going through some of the first earlier episodes which you guys appear a lot in, so I decided to check this out. But I think you stopped cuz this is from 2010. Either that or there is something really wrong with my computer. Or Im really dumb and there is like a newer one right there which I’m going to check again for after I submit this. Okay well bye

  52. Ally Says:

Hey guys! I absolutely LOVE the show.
I listen to it EACH day, and it makes doing homework a hundred times more bearable. It’s stimulating and the guests are great!
I think the highlight of the show is you guys, the hosts, and I must say that listening to the show clears my mind and calms me down.
Frak and John’s jokes are really funny, and Melissa and I have really have similar opinions to a LOT of the stuff you guys talk about.
Thank you SO MUCH for this great, AMAZING PODCAST!

  53. Michael Lanich Says:

I have some observations about the final movie, plus a question about Harry Potter in general.

First off, I loved the movie. I thought it was brilliant. Probably the best of the series. However, as a fan I have some things I wished had made the cut or bothered me and I wanted to get your thoughts on them.

    1. Dumbledore’s backstory – Both Grindelwald and Dumbledore’s backstory were basically skipped over in part two, despite being hinted at heavily in part one of Deathly Hallows. I thought they could have done it just as the books had done it but through a flashback showing the events as they played out.

    2. “I’ve known for some time Harry that you were the better man” – this line of dialogue is spoken by Dumbledore in the final book and I really wanted it to make it into the movie, because I felt it was an important moment, but sadly it never made it.

    3. The kissing scenes between Harry and Ginny – I don’t kow about you, but I haven’t been impressed by Bonnie Wright’s acting in the last couple of movies, but what bothers me most is the kissing scenes. I can handle the first tentative kiss in the Half-Blood Prince, but each kiss afterwards is the same. What bothered me was the kiss between them in the battle. They could both be dead soon and instead of a real passionate kiss, we get a little peck. About as much passion between them as a cold fish.

Now, onto a question I have been pondering. James and Lilly both had parents and james had grandparents who were all alive when they were at Hogwarts. By what we have found out, they got married within a couple of years of leaving Hogwarts which would have made them around 19 at the time. They were pretty young when they had Harry as well. I think 21 or 22.

So my question is, when Lilly and James were killed, were both Lilly’s parent and James whole family already dead then? The reason I ask is that we never once heard mention of their families being murdered or killed. I would think that it would have been something that Petunia would have hated Harry and Lilly for.

  54. kirk Says:

    Hey where is episode 250??????

  55. Mariah Says:

Thank you for the closure. I was as reluctant to listen as you guys were to record. I could not help but also think about how life would have been different without your podcast and it is hard think about. The biggest is if I didn’t go to LeakyCon I don’t know how my husband would have chosen to propose to me back in 2011. I remember listening to your shows and talking back like you were beside me. Thank you for helping me not feel alone about my love for the HP series.
